The Faithlessness of Man and the Faithfulness of God

This past Sunday, we continued our series on the life of Abraham, looking at part 1 of the tragic story of Hagar and Ishmael. Right after the mountaintop experience Abram had with God in chapter 15, faith starts to falter again and Abram and Sarai make fearful decisions from a place of pain, grief, sadness, confusion, and doubt—decisions that will have consequences for generations to come. And yet, even when God’s people are faithless, He is faithful!
REFLECTION: Where are you trying to force God’s hand? Where are you making decisions from a place of pain?

Husbands, where are you being passive about your wife, your marriage, your family?
Where do you need Jesus to reveal to you that He SEES you?

FURTHER UP, FURTHER IN: Take time this week to become more informed about and to pray specifically for Muslims and the Middle East; not just for peace in that corner of the globe, but for a profound outpouring of the Spirit that leads to even more visions of Jesus, mass conversion, an emboldening of existing churches and favour, and a transformation of the region. Pray for the full realization of Jesus’ blessing. You can use ministries like Elam (elam.com) to help you.
