We are a new church forming in the Alta Vista ward. We exist to saturate the various communities of Southeast Ottawa and beyond with the good news of Jesus Christ to see lives transformed and culture renewed.
We gather every two weeks on Sundays for a full worship service with singing, prayer, teaching from the Bible, confession/reflection, and communion. All are welcome to join us. Skeptics and seekers welcome. Children’s Church/nursery provided.
On the other Sundays we gather for prayer for our communities and city. **Reduced children’s program on these weeks.
We meet at 4:15PM at The Martin Luther Church, 933 Smyth Rd, a short walk from the Elmvale Mall Stop (take the 86 from uOttawa or Hurdman Station).

JESUS. We want to be a church that in everything we do points people to Jesus, to who He is, and to what He has done, is doing, and will do.
FAMILY. We want to be a church that cultivates and enables deep community, a community that is attractive and counter-cultural, where Jesus followers know and are known.
THE CITY. We are not meant to withdraw from, fear, merely tolerate, or neglect the city. We are called to actively love our neighbours as ourselves. Jesus defines love as self-giving for the good of others, and tells us that all human beings are made in the image of God and are, therefore, our neighbours. We want to be a church that is for the city and that empowers and enables all Jesus followers to be a blessing to their communities.
MISSION. We want to provide spaces for skeptics and seekers to explore the claims and teachings of Jesus and to experience God and the power of the gospel with people who love Him. And we want to equip and enable all Jesus followers to be gracious, humble, and winsome disciple-makers; to be a church that makes disciples who make disciples.
This is a brief summary of what we believe (from the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith Sidewalk Edition).
We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.
We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God’s kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.
As Christians, we are called to turn:
• from ignorance of God to a personal relationship with God
• from bondage of sin and past mistakes to freedom, forgiveness, and healing
• from individualism to interdependence with others in the local church
• from lifestyle choices that harm us, others, and the earth to choices that nurture wholeness, healing, joy, and peace
• from hating enemies and ignoring neighbours to showing love and justice to all
• from loving possessions to sharing with all in need
• from aimless existence to a mission of representing and proclaiming God’s kingdom on earth
As Christians, we look forward to the day when God will once again send Jesus to bring all things under God’s eternal rule.
About David and Diana
David and Diana felt called into ministry in 2008 as David was studying history and Diana was studying nursing. David really enjoys teaching the Bible and helping people to discover Jesus and make spiritual breakthroughs in their journey with Jesus. In 2012 David received his Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. For four years David was an itinerant preacher and he and Diana worked in Ottawa with the university/college students and young professionals at Rideaview Bible Chapel. During their time there they felt God leading them to a new adventure, to plant a missional church in the Alta Vista ward of southeast Ottawa where they live. David and Diana answered this call in the spring of 2016. With the help of the C2C Network, a Canadian church planting network that has planted over a hundred churches with 20+ denominations, and Sequoia Community Church, a Jesus loving church in Barrhaven with a similar heart and vision, David and Diana and their team started planting Southeast City Church in August 2017. David and Diana are joined in this work by their three children, Micah, Leah and Jonah.
