Jesus. Family. City. Mission

Our Church

We want to be a church that, gathered or scattered, is a family of missionary servants with Jesus at the centre.

We gather on Sundays to sing, hear formative teaching from the Bible, confess, reflect, pray, take communion, give, and be re-sent out into the world for mission together.

All are welcome to join us, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey. There's a place for you!

We meet at 4:00 PM at The Martin Luther Church, 933 Smyth Rd.

We also scatter throughout the week into Going Deeper Groups, Family Gatherings, and various outreaches to the poor, marginalized, and isolated in our community, including a Food Bank..

Loving God. Loving People.

Our Pillars

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength" Mark 12:30
"Love your neighbour as yourself" Mark 12:31.
"Love one another. Just as I have loved you" John 13:34
"Go...and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19

Our Beliefs

As Christians, we look forward to the day when God will once again send Jesus to bring all things under God’s eternal rule.

This is a brief summary of what we believe (from the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith Sidewalk Edition).

We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.

We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God’s kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith.

Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.

As Christians, we are called to turn:

  • from ignorance of God to a personal relationship with God
  • from bondage of sin and past mistakes to freedom, forgiveness, and healing
  • from individualism to interdependence with others in the local church
  • from lifestyle choices that harm us, others, and the earth to choices that nurture wholeness, healing, joy, and peace
  • from hating enemies and ignoring neighbours to showing love and justice to all
  • from loving possessions to sharing with all in need
  • from aimless existence to a mission of representing and proclaiming God’s kingdom on earth

Making Disciples.

Our Leaders

David and Diana felt called into ministry in 2008 as David was studying history and Diana was studying nursing. David really enjoys teaching the Bible and helping people to discover Jesus and make spiritual breakthroughs in their journey with Jesus. In 2012 David received his Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. For four years David was an itinerant preacher and he and Diana worked in Ottawa with the university/college students and young professionals at Rideaview Bible Chapel. During their time there they felt God leading them to a new adventure, to plant a missional church in the Alta Vista ward of southeast Ottawa where they live. David and Diana answered this call in the spring of 2016.
With the help of the C2C Network (now C2C Collective), a Canadian church planting network that has planted over a hundred churches with 20+ denominations, and Sequoia Community Church, a Jesus loving church in Barrhaven with a similar heart and vision, David and Diana and their team started planting Southeast City Church in August 2017, officially launching in September 2019. David and Diana are joined in this work by their three children, Micah, Leah and Jonah.

David is credentialed as a pastor with the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.
