Sundays:
One of the most important things we do is gather together as a community to have a transformative encounter with the Living God. We gather for worship every Sunday at 4 PM at The Martin Luther Church (933 Smyth Rd). All are welcome. It doesn’t matter whether you’re sold out for Jesus or unsure of Jesus, convinced or skeptical, doing OK or not doing OK, feeling good about church or recovering from church hurt, thriving or struggling, coming from a good place or coming from a hard place. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, there is a place for you.
Here’s what you can expect on a Sunday
– We will sing, listen to formative teaching from the Bible, take time to reflect and pray, and take communion. Everything is explained as we go. You do not have to participate.
– People will be available at the back to pray with you during the Time of Response.
– There is no dress code. We are very informal and non-traditional.
– We sing a mix of older hymns and newer songs.
– Our building is accessible and we will try to accommodate special needs.
– We serve complimentary tea and coffee.
– We are very warm and friendly, but you will not be “put on the spot” to do anything.
– Donations are not expected or required. There is no payment for services rendered. All giving is voluntary.
– Children’s Church is available for all kids ages 4-11, every Sunday except when we host Family Services (once-a-month). A nursery is also available every week for 0-3 year olds. All of our volunteers have been screened and trained in abuse prevention with Plan to Protect.
– We often eat together afterwards, either at the church or at someone’s home. We love to eat together!
Throughout the week we scatter into:
Family Groups that meet in people’s homes for meaningful connection, authentic community, mutual learning around Scripture, and deep prayer for our church, city, and world.
Online Prayer Rooms to contend for spiritual renewal in our times.
Going Deeper Groups, which are small same-gender discipleship groups that meet all over the city at different times and places for encouragement, accountability, and prayer.
Outreaches to our neighbours experiencing poverty, addiction, trauma, food insecurity, mental illness, isolation, and loneliness. We host a monthly Community Meal Outreach on Wednesdays to create shared experiences through food, breaking down barriers and building relationships. We also host a weekly Faith Circle Outreach on Fridays to help connect people with each other and God. We host both of these in an Ottawa Community Housing apartment complex.
We also co-host a weekly Youth Group with Celebration! Church on Fridays at their location (414 Pleasant Park Rd) to invest in and mentor our next generation.
