God’s Case Against Israel, part 2: Determined to Follow What is Worthless
This past Sunday we continued in the complicated but beautiful Old Testament book of Hosea. God is unpacking His case against Israel, and this week He grieves their pursuit of the false hopes and false promises made by false gods who can’t save and can’t deliver when they have access to the Living God. Do we do the same thing?
We hope this teaching helps you wherever you are on your spiritual journey.
Reflection-
Where am I following worthless things?

Further Up, Further In- Take time this week to prayerfully reflect- Which idol seduces you the most? Power (control), prosperity, pleasure? How does it make itself attractive to you? What does it promise you? Has your pursuit of it ever delivered all that you thought it would? Think about the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-24). What does this story teach us about the empty promises of idolatry? Or think about Jeremiah 2:1-13. How does the imagery of a broken cistern vs a fountain of living water help you understand the futility of idolatry? Ask God to show you all of the ways He is better than the idols that seduce you and write it all down. Share what God reveals with your family, friends, or Going Deeper Group.
