God’s Case Against Israel, part 3: Heartless Religion
This past Sunday we continued in the complicated but beautiful Old Testament book of Hosea. God is wrapping up His case against Israel and makes one His most damning accusations yet- all of their religious zeal and devotion is empty, hollow, and heartless, devoid of reality. What does this mean? Why does it matter? And how can we know whether our religiosity is real or fake.
We hope this teaching helps you wherever you are on your spiritual journey.
Reflection-
How are you coming here today?
Does God have your heart? Is your Christian life “ceremony” or is your heart in it?
Further Up, Further In-
Take time this week to prayerfully ask God what it would look like for you to give Him your heart- your love, devotion, surrender, life, and obedience. Where is your love uncommitted? Where is your devotion half-hearted? Where are you not surrendering/trusting? Where is God not Lord of your life? Where are you consistently disobeying/struggling to obey? Be specific. Ask God to change your heart and help you give all of these things, your whole self, to Him.
