I AM the True Vine
This past Sunday we continued in our series Who Does Jesus Say That He Is looking at the 7 I AM statements of Jesus in the Gospel of John. This week, Jesus identifies Himself as the True Vine, as the One we have to draw our life from for real, true, deep, lasting transformation. This is one of Jesus’ most beautiful and important teachings, and if we actually get it, it is life-altering and leads to love, joy, peace, and hope. If we don’t get it, it leads to anxiety, drivenness, and despair.
Reflection-
Do you want to become who you were meant to be?
What narratives might you be drawing on rather than Jesus?
Are you drawing on Jesus or yourself?
Are you communing with Jesus in Scripture? If not, why not? What are you going to do about it?

Further Up, Further In-
Start communing with Jesus this week. I would recommend slowly, prayerfully, and reflectively reading through Matthew 5-7 and/or John 13-17. Prepare. Read. Respond. Rest. Resolve/pray. Take your time. Don’t rush. Listen for the voice of God. Enjoy Him. Let Him surface things and work you over. Journal. Take what He reveals with you into your day and build your life on your times with Him.
