Responding to the Scandalous God
This past Sunday we concluded our series in the complicated but beautiful Old Testament book of Hosea, looking at Hosea’s final plea to his people in light of the scandalousness of God’s love to choose God. Trust God. Follow God. He is worth it and His love is life. This is as much a plea for us as it was for them.
We hope this teaching helps you wherever you are on your spiritual journey.
Reflection- Will you turn and embrace the scandalous love of God for you through faith in Jesus Christ?
Will you receive/accept His love?
Where do you still need to trust, follow, and surrender?
Will you be scandalized for the scandalous God? Will you be a prophet like Hosea?
Further Up, Further In- Take time this week to prayerfully and reflectively re-read Hosea. What stands out to you the most about the heart and character of God? Where do you see yourself in the story of Israel? What do you still find hard to accept or understand? Which verses and/or passages are most impactful and why? Which declarations of love and promises are the most meaningful and why? What is your main takeaway from Hosea? What will be different for you now that you’ve read/studied Hosea? Discuss your thoughts with your family, friends, and/or Going Deeper Group.
