Signs of the Filling of the Spirit: Love

This past Sunday we continued our series- The Life You Were Made For, looking at the what, why, and how of the Spirit-Filled Life. What are the signs that you have been filled? What changes in your life? This week- Love. The natural outflow of a life yielded to the filling of God’s Spirit and presence is that we become emptied of our self-centredness and we grow in our love for God, each other, and those we are not naturally drawn to love.

We hope this teaching helps you wherever you are on your spiritual journey.

Reflection-

1) Lord, do I really know how to love you the way it seems you are asking me to? What does that look like in my life? Is transformation really possible after I have failed to change so many times in my life already?

2) It’s easier but still often challenging to love those in my circle of friends and family. Loving “the all” with an overflowing love- those who I am not drawn to love – seems like such a great task. Will you show me by your Spirit how to live a life of love so that I may fulfill your desire for my life?

Further Up, Further In-

Set some time aside this week to do an inventory of your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you for whom your heart needs to be strengthened in love. Is there someone in your life, whether it’s a family member, a neighbour, or maybe a friend who is difficult to show Christ’s love to? Meditate on 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 and Galatians 5:22 and allow God’s Spirit to have control by asking to be filled with Christs love for that difficult person that has been placed on your heart.
