The Church Gets Ready

Preacher:
Passage: Acts 1:12-26

This past Sunday we continued our new series on the Book of Acts, Jesus Continued- What is the church, and what should our life and mission look like in the world? This week we will be looking at one of the hardest but best and most life-giving things that God calls us to do- wait.

We hope this teaching helps you wherever you are on your spiritual journey.

Reflection-
Where are you trying to rush the waiting? Where do you need to be more present to what God is doing in the waiting?Where are there unfulfilled promises in your life where you need to press in with God even more?

Where is there pain that you need to process?

Further Up, Further In-
Read the story of Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac (Genesis 12, 15, 16, 18, 21). Imagine what it must have been like to be Abraham and Sarah. What must it have been like to wait and wait with no clear vision of when or how things were going to happen? Why do you think God did this? How does Abraham wrestle with God throughout the story? How does Sarah? What is the fallout from their attempts to force God’s hand and make things happen? What must it have been like when God finally came through? What do you think this experience taught Abraham and Sarah? What can you learn from this story?
